주님과의 대화

주님과 대화하는 꿈을 꾸었다. 주님이 나에게 물으셨다.
“나와 이야기를 나누기를 원하는가?” “주님께서 시간 주신다면”
“나의 시간은 영원하다” 하느님은 미소를 지으셨다.
“네가 나에게 묻고자 하는 것은 무엇인가?”“주님께서 인간세상을 보시기에 이해가 되지 않는 점이 있으시다면?”
주님은 대답하셨다.
“인간들은 자신들의 어린 시절을 지겨워하고 하루빨리 성인이 되기를 원했다가, 성인이 된 후에는 다시 어린 시절로 되돌아가기를 간절히 원하는 것.” 이란다.
“인간들은 돈을 벌기 위해 그들의 건강을 잃고, 그리고 다시 건강을 회복하기 위해 그 돈을 써버리는 것“ 이란다.
“인간들은 미래를 지나치게 걱정한 나머지, 미래를 위해 현재를 희생해 버림으로써, 고로 현재도 미래도 모두 잘 살지 못하는 것”이란다.
“살아 있을 때는 인간들은 절대로 죽지 않을 것처럼 행동하고, 죽을 때는 단 하루도 못 살아본 사람처럼 죽어가지”
주님의 손이 나를 잡았고 우리는 잠시 동안 침묵에 싸였다.
나는 계속해서 여쭈었다.
“하느님 아버지께서 저희가 세상사는 동안, 저희들 어린양이 무엇을 배우기를 원합니까?”주님은 미소를 띠며 답해 주셨다.
“타인들로 부터 자기를 사랑을 하도록 강요할 수는 없으나, 인간들이 할 수 있는 것은 스스로가 사랑을 받을 수 있도록 하는 것이란다.”
“자신과 다른 사람을 비교하는 것은 좋지 않느니라.”
“부자는 가장 많이 소유한 자가 아니고, 가장 적게 원하는 자가 바로 부자 이느니라.”
“우리가 사랑하는 사람에게 깊은 상처를 주는 것은 순식간이지만, 그것을 치유하는 데는 많은 세월이 걸린다는 것을 알아야 합니다.”
“용서를 배우려면 용서를 실천하도록 하라.”
“상대를 진심으로 사랑하는 사람들이 있으나, 그들의 감정을 보여주거나, 나타내지 못하는 사람들도 있다는 것도 알아야 하느니라.”
“두 사람이 동일한 것을 보더라도
그것을 다르게 이해할 수 있다는 것을 알아야 한단다.”
“다른 사람들에게 자신을 용서 받는 것만으로는 항상 충분치 않단다. 스스로 자기 자신을 용서할 수 있도록 되어야 한단다.”
“그리고 주님은 항상 여기에 계심을 알아라."

I dreamed I had an interview with God. “So you would like to interview me?” God asked“If you have the time” I said.God smiled “My time is eternity”“What questions do you have in mind for me?”“What surprises you most about humankind?...”God answered...
“That they get bored with childhood. They rush to grow up and then long to be children again.”
“That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.”
“That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future.”
That they live as if they will never die, and die as if they had never lived.”
God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a whileAnd then I asked...
“As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?” God replied with a smile
“To learn they cannot make anyone love them.What they can do is let themselves be loved.”
“To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.”
“To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most,but is one who needs the least.”
“To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and it takes many years to heal them.”
“To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.”
“To learn that there are persons who love them dearly, but simply do not know how to express or showtheir feelings.”
“To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently.”
“To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others. But that they mustforgive themselves.”
“And to learn that I am here always.”
Interview with God : On May 29, 2001, Reata Strickland posted a version of 'Interview with God' on a local church Web site in Alabama, with no announcements or advertising. Within a week 500,000 people had heard about it and taken a look. Soon, the numbers reached well into the millions, and they have been growing steadily ever since. God's message, which gently points out our failing while reminding us of what really matters in life, has become an astonishing success, reaching out and touching people around the world. Reata Strickland is a Web designer and developer at the University of Alabama and a Sunday school teacher. She lives in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, with her husband, Steve, and daughters, Jessie and Katie.
